Support principles

We are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported the restoration of St Mary’s Church. We thank you all for the donations, your help, good advice, supporting words and intercessions. We wish to record at St Mary’s Church the names of people who have contributed to the restoration the church. For that, Tartu Maarja Kiriku SA has prepared the following statute:

The principles of acknowledging and recording the supporters of St Mary’s Church restoration

  1. All persons who have made their donation up to the completion of the church are recorded as supporters. This does not mean that the persons who support the renovation or other related works later cannot be noted as supporters.
  2. All donators are recorded who have no objections to that.
  3. The contribution of the donators is acknowledged by specific designations:

up to €2,499.99 (for legal persons up to €4,999.99) – donation

€2,500 to €4,999.99 (for of legal persons €5,000 to 24,999.99) – respectable donation

€5,000 to €24,999.99 (for legal persons €25,000 to 49,999.99) – generous donation

€25,000 to €49,999.99 (for legal persons €50,000 to 99,999.99) – great donation

€50,000 and more (for legal persons €100,000 and more) – historic donation

  1. Based on the above five categories, the names of donators are inscribed on the tower foot around the main entrance of the church or, depending on the solution of the interior design, some other place close to the main entrance. The list of the donators starts with the names of persons who have made historic donations, followed by the persons of the subsequent categories and expression of gratitude to anonymous donators. The size of letters forming the names will be in proportion with the category of donated amounts. Donations made in the form of a charity concert, service, material or any other similar way will be evaluated against the above rating scale, if possible, and recorded accordingly.
  2. The names of all donators are continuously added to the list of supporters on the home page of the congregation.
  3. The names of all donators for the ending year are reported in the Christmas edition of the congregation’s paper.
  4. A book will published on the history and restoration of St Mary’s Church, including the names of all donators.
  5. The names of the donators of specific items or objects (e.g., a chandelier, organ, tower, etc.) may be recorded, in the appropriate way, on the donated item. This may be in addition to, not instead of marking the name as specified in clause 3.
  6. All donators who have made at least a respectable donation are invited to the service of consecration of the church, which will also be a service of giving thanks to the supporters.
  7. All donators who have made at least a respectable donation are rewarded with a distinct token of gratitude prepared specifically for that purpose. The donators of smaller amounts are acknowledged with a special edition of the congregation’s newsletters.
  8. The details concerning the implementation of the acknowledgment principles are determined by the supervisory board of the foundation in agreement with the management of the EELC St Mary’s Congregation.

The principles of acknowledgment and recording were approved by the supervisory board of Tartu Maarja Kiriku SA on 15 May 2010.
